With so many new albums being released each week, it can be a risky business picking something that you know you’re going to enjoy. But don’t worry – we’ve done the hard work for you!

We’ve picked out 5 of the best upcoming releases from a mix of genres, so you’re bound to find something to make your ears decidedly ecstatic.

Wild – Joanna Shaw Taylor

Wild is the 5th studio album from blues rock artist Joanna Shaw Taylor, recorded at the famous Grand Victor Sound Studios, Nashville Tennessee. Listening to Taylor’s soulful voice and powerful lyrics, you could be forgiven to think that she has come straight out of Nashville herself, but this talent was grown right here on British soil in the Black Country.

The opening track Dyin’ To Know is one of the rockier songs on the album, pairing gritty guitar notes with that quintessential blues beat and Taylor’s strong vocals. No Reason To Stay is more of an emotional offering, where melancholic guitar solos allow Taylor to demonstrates those formidable skills that have earned her the title of ‘the queen of blues rock.’

Wild will delight Taylor’s old and new fans alike.

Wild is released on 30th September by Axe House Music.

Low Teens – Every Time I Die

Metalcore icons Every Time I Die return to the scene with their 8th studio album Low Teens, named as a reference to the freezing temperatures prevalent during their recording sessions for the album.

A harrowing night for front-man Keith Buckley, involving a phone call informing him that his pregnant wife was in hospital with a life-threatening complication, played a pivotal role in shaping Low Teens, turning it into their most poignant and impassioned album.

The Coin Has Its Say launches into a pit-inciting fervour straight from the offset, while long-time friend of the band Brendan Urie (Panic! at the Disco) provides a melodic counterpoint on It Remembers.

Low Teens manages to skilfully juggle hardcore metal with rock melodies, with the same assaulting lyrics that Every Time I Die followers have come to expect from this band.

Low Teens is released on 23rd September by Epitaph.

Outer – Dusky

When your second album features the godfather of electronic music Gary Numan, you know you’re onto something good.

It’s been 5 years since London duo Dusky’s last LP Stick By This, but they’ve been keeping busy by not-so-quietly becoming stars of the UK underground in the meantime.

Outer features their signature eclectic mix of sounds, from techno to electro-pop and every sub-genre in-between. The second single Sort It Out Sharon featuring Wiley seems to have already split opinion, but if anything it proves that Dusky aren’t ones to sit still and stagnate.

Outer is released on 14th October by Polydor.

Take Control – Slaves

British punk-rock duo Slaves return with a raucously raw second album Take Control featuring appearances from Beastie Boys’ Mike D and Baxter Dury.

While Take Control  features some of the similar sounds from their previous Mercury Prize-nominated album Are You Satisfied?, Spit It Out reflects a harder edge of the Kent duo, where they rail against apathetic twenty-somethings who do nothing but complain –‘what you gonna do about it?’ they spit.

The titular track is another ferocious offering from the album, where the grungy guitar mixed with fiery lyrics is bound to get anyone raising an angry fist of defiance at the world.

Take Control is release on 30th September by Virgin EMI Records.

Echoes – Young Guns

Taken from their upcoming 4th album Echoes, the politically charged video for Mad World amassed 100,000 views on YouTube in just two weeks for the highly successful UK alt-rock quartet Young Guns.

Featuring scenes of burning buildings, riot police and the lines ‘shoot before you think’, this single marks a decidedly heavier theme for the upcoming album, but with the same anthem blaring style.

“Echoes is about letting go of the past and moving on towards a brighter future – we’re ready and are a better, hungrier band than we’ve ever been before,” say Young Guns.

Echoes is another master class from the Young Guns on how to mix heavy rock sounds with melodic lyrics that combine to pack a powerful punch.

Echoes is released on 16th September by Fearless Records.
