Awards season begins with the Golden Globes

Awards season is officially underway as the Golden Globes took place on January 6th.

The biggest scoop of the night went to the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, winning Best Motion Picture – Drama. It beat off fierce competition from Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, If Beale Street Could Talk and Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut, A Star is Born.

Rami Malek, who starred in Bohemian Rhapsody as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, also bagged Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.

Although it wasn’t named Best Motion Picture, A Star is Born did win Best Original Song – Motion Picture for the Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga duet Shallow.

Richard Madden, who made his name playing Robb Stark in HBO’s Game of Thrones, took home the award for Best Performance by an Actor in A Television Series – Drama for his role as Sergeant David Budd in Bodyguard.
